Town of Ulster Recognizes Birchez Senior Housing Developer with Proclamation and Official Steve and Judy Aaron Day
TOWN OF ULSTER, N.Y., Feb. 10, 2009 – Ulster town officials proclaimed the day that Birchez Associates LLC broke ground on its newest senior affordable housing project here, The Birches at Chambers, as “Steve and Judy Aaron Day” on Jan. 9.
Presented by town Supervisor Nicky B. Woerner, the proclamation recognized the couple for their “tireless efforts over the past eight years to provide new, safe, and affordable housing for seniors and families.”
The proclamation noted that the Aarons, through Birchez, have provided nearly 300 affordable homes for seniors and will add 66 more with the completion of the latest project. The groundbreaking marked the fifth project for Birchez in Ulster County.
“Today is a milestone,” said Steve Aaron, Birchez founder and managing partner, at ceremonies, where he was joined by federal, state and local officials to kick off construction of the new $15 million, green-friendly senior development.
The firm also announced a partnership with Elant, Inc. that will provide on-site medical services as well as personal support to residents of The Birches at Chambers that will be accessible right where they live.
The partnership between the community-based non-profit group and the affordable housing developer and management firm represents a model for the Hudson Valley region and nation in delivering health care and lifestyle-support for seniors living in affordable-housing communities.
