JMC Marketing Communications & PR has named Sylvia Murphy vice president and general manager

KINGSTON, N.Y., March 13, 2007 – JMC Marketing Communications & PR has named Sylvia Murphy vice president and general manager.

Murphy joined the Kingston-based agency in September 2003 as operations director. She assumes the added duties of staff management and strategic business planning.

Murphy, of Glenford, N.Y., will help JMC drive growth by recruiting fresh talent, creating new collaborative partnerships and managing new business acquisition, said John Mallen, president.

“Sylvia has been invaluable as director of operations,” said Mallen. “Her extensive knowledge of process management and strategic planning will enable JMC to continue to grow both internationally and here in the Hudson Valley.”

With more than 17 years of business management experience, she has held positions with Prudential Insurance in Horsham, Pa. and Model Optics in Woodstock, N.Y.

Murphy also was recently elected chairperson of the 2007 steering committee of The Northern Hudson Valley Job Service Employer Committee (JSEC), a volunteer business group.

She will lead the steering committee of JSEC, which conducts forums on community, regional and national issues affecting business. She has served for two years on the group’s marketing and membership committees.

Murphy also is a board member of the Gateway Industries Foundation and Trailsweepers Snow & Sports Club. In addition, she is a member of the Special Events Committee and Ambassador Committee of the Chamber of Commerce of Ulster County, and a graduate of its Ulster Leadership Development Institute.
