Kingston, NY -- Sept. 20 -- Business leaders in Ulster County, N.Y., were invited yesterday to tap the growth and marketing power of the Internet by accessing the "new laws of Web 2.0" communications.

The invitation was proffered by JMC Marketing Communications & PR, at yesterday's gathering of more than 300 business owners at The Emerson of Woodstock, a co-sponsor of the event along with Sav-On Party Center.

Rapid development of the Internet and user-friendly technologies, combined with broadband, wireless, and other high-tech advances have diversified and lessened the command of traditional media, while giving consumers new power with high-powered software and social networks.

"New Web 2.0 tools have revolutionized sales, marketing and fundraising," says JMC's CEO John Mallen. "But the basics endure, and success means integrating the traditional and new media.

How you do that is a custom solution for each organization," Mallen says. "But there is a big difference with a focused communications strategy -- which is really one component of the business pan -- smaller resources can fund high-efficacy programs, he says."
